You will know when…
1. The body language has shifted.
2. The quality time decreases.
3. The criticism increases.
4. There is less transparency.
5. Discussions about the future cease.
6. The things that were once endearing are now irritating.
7. Your efforts are no longer appreciated.
8. The crimes don’t fit the punishment.
9. There is no longer a desire to meet your expressed needs.
10. In your heart of hearts, you’ve done all that you could possibly do to improve the situation and there is still resistance.
And when you see these truths, don’t revert to the memories of who they once were. Embrace who they are now. Maya Angelou once said, “When a person shows you who they are, believe them.” Believe in that moment, that they are showing you who they are. Thank God for the insight of these new truths and deal with the present. There is strength in letting go. The gift of insight will allow you to shed off negativity and create new spaces for positivity. The more you embrace positivity in your life, the more negativity will become uncomfortable around you. Take on the positive, while the negative layers naturally begin to shed. So, thank them. Thank them for the good times and the lessons. Take heart in knowing that your integrity is still intact and that their treatment towards you had more to do with them than it had to do with you. How we treat others is a reflection of how we feel about ourselves (with a few exceptions). Love yourself and remember that you’re still the amazing, fabulous, loving, and brilliant individual that you’ve always been. Don’t ever forget it and keep pushing towards the light.
